Fields of practice
Villu Otsmann is the managing partner of the Triniti Estonian office. He is also in charge of the firm´s everyday legal advice to the clients. As an advocate his main strength is the strategic analyses of complex legal matters and he acts as lead counsel in disputes of precedent importance, especially in the fields of investor and shareholder relations, competition and tax law. Villu takes a strong professional interest in legal challenges pertaining to constitutional rights.

Professional experience
During his studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Tartu (1994-1995), he worked in the Tartu City Government as an expert of the Department of Utilities and as an in-house counsel of the Central Association of Estonian Consumer Associations, one of the largest retail groups in the country at the time.

Between 1997-1999, Villu was the head legal counsel of NG Investeeringud Ltd, a leading Estonian investment group and thereafter worked for five years in the law firm Teder & Rask, attending mainly to commercial, contract and competition law issues.

In 2004 Villu co-founded a law firm together with Tõnis Tamme (In 2005 the firm became Tamme & Otsmann).

Education
Villu graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Tartu in 1996.

Languages
Villu is fluent in Estonian and also able to communicate with clients in English, Russian and Finnish.

Extra-curricular
Villu Otsmann has been a member of the student fraternity Rotalia since his freshman year and chaired its Tallinn body of alumni through 2008-2010.

In his spare time Villu enjoys fishing and hiking in the woods, landscaping and playing chess.
